MyGirl and I have been creating a Venn diagram of the movies that we think are so brilliant it makes us angry. The circle on the left is MyGirl’s movies, the circle on the right are my movies and the overlap in between contains the movies we agree upon. Her side, for example, contains *Rushmore,* my side contains *The Jerk,* and we both agree on *Office Space.* We also agree on some other movies, including *Amelie,* *T2* and *American History X.* Two nights ago we watched *Deliverance* for the first time, and I decided to add it to my side of the Venn diagram.

me: I wonder what exactly made it so controversial when it came out. Do you think it was the man-rape?

MyGirl: Prolly. I mean, they’d probably never really shown that before. They don’t really even show it in movies now.

me: True.

MyGirl: Wait, there’s man-rape in *American History X.*

me: Oh, yeah! There is! We love a good man rape!

MyGirl: Man-rape is very important to us. A movie just isn’t a movie if it doesn’t have man-rape.
