Lent Her, I Hardly Knew Her

Lent is a big deal in Boston. Going to the comedy clubs during the Lenten season means being bombarded with jokes about giving up Lent for Lent, etc. etc. etc. I haven't heard one Lent joke (good or otherwise) here in San Francisco, so I've taken to adding my own Lent zingers to conversations.

you: Mmmm. That cake looks good, but I shouldn't.
me: I've given up dieting for Lent.
you: I'm trying to cut back a little bit.
me: I've given up guilt for Lent.
you: Want me to buy a piece for you?
me: I've given up not being a millionaire for Lent.
