The conversation last night between me, MyGirl, and Elijah-the-cat.

MyGirl and Alana are laying in the bed, while Elijah-the-cat lays at the foot. Alana is telling MyGirl about the article she read in the New Yorker about the sandhogs building the third water tunnel underneath NYC. Alana finishes her synopsis.

Alana: It's just so FREAKY! And so COOL! But anyway, we can't move to New York until they finish building the third tunnel, because I don't want to die.

MyGirl: So we can move there in twenty years?

Alana: Yeah. Unless they finish earlier.

MyGirl: Okay.

Alana: Someone should make a movie about them. It's so cool. It could even be an action movie. I mean, it's dangerous down there! Twenty-four people have died making this tunnel.

MyGirl: Yeah.

Alana: I bet someone is already making a movie about it, don't you think?

MyGirl: Yeah.

Alana: I mean, I betcha, wanna bet.

MyGirl: I think you're right.

Alana: Like a dollar or something.

MyGirl: But I'm AGREEING with you.

Alana: Oh. Well, let's bet Elijah then. [To Elijah] Elijah, we bet you a dollar that a movie about the sandhogs comes out within the next...three years. What do you say?

Elijah-the-cat stares at Alana and closes his eyes

Alana: [To MyGirl] He said "okay."

Elijah-the-cat opens his eyes and begins purring

Alana: [Whispers to Elijah] Don't worry, if you lose, I'll give you the dollar.
