I have three pencils on my desk that I need to sharpen. I dulled them all last week and each time I want to write something in pencil--which happens at least a couple of times daily--I take them out one at a time and realize I can't write with them. I then put them back in my pen mug until the next time I need to use a pencil. The electric pencil sharpener is seventy-five steps away. I know this because about five minutes ago I counted the steps. I was wondering why I don't just walk over to the pencil sharpener and trying to figure out how far it is from here. So I walked to it, counting. I did not take my pencils with me.
