Jenya practically chased me around the house this morning, trying to get me into the morning spirit so that I would wish her a Happy Valentine's Day. I'm not a morning person. She finally gave up and took a shower while I moped around and trimmed my excessively long toenails and enticed the cat to meow. When I went to get my bag she had left a little package of love filled with candies on my bag. This was cute.

I have taken to carrying candies in my coat pocket. Reece's Pieces mostly, as we have a candy dish filled with them on the table next to the front door. We were driving to Couple's the other night and I reached into my pocket and pulled out a handful of candy and started eating them while complaining about our upcoming appointment. I had eaten them all by the time we got there, and I kicked myself because it meant I missed the opportunity to take candy out of a pocket during a lull in the conversation.

In the lobby this morning there was a band playing cool jazz. In honor of Valentine's Day, I presume. On the way to the elevator banks, the security guards were handing out heart-shaped shortbread cookies. Well, the cookies were on trays and we could choose to grab them or not and the security guards were just standing next to them checking our badges. I grabbed a cookie and the young security guard smiled and winked and told me "Happy Valentine's Day."
