Why are there so many bad contemporary folk songs? I'm sure there are a lot of bad songs of all types, but right now I have the college station on and they are playing folk. Sometimes it is good. Like when they play Tom Brosseau. That's usually a good five minutes. Or when they play Ani DiFranco. Which is good mostly because it makes me think of being in college. There was a time (last semester) when there used to be Ani block, which amused and appealed to me endlessly. Also, I am currently listening to someone performing live in that college radio studio right now, and they just sang "I just forgot the words on live radio, what an idiot." Either (a) that is part of the actual song, which is not good. or (b) he just forgot the words on live radio. What an idiot!

After the folk music ends they move onto Jazz. I like jazz, but I don't like jazzy covers of old pop or rock songs. Jazz Beatles and Jazz Neil Young are the two most offensive to my sensitive sensibilities.

If I were to have a show on the radio, and I could choose my own format, I would just play shit and then play whatever shit that shit made me think of. Of course, a lot of times when I hear a song I just want to listen to it over and over again, so I would do that. Also, sometimes when I am listening to a song, I really want to learn the lyrics, so I rewind little bits of the song over and over again. I would do that, too.
